Job Duties

We’re seeking a skilled Echocardiography RN to join our team at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA, supporting diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures alongside cardiologists, sonographers, and advanced practice providers. This role is ideal for nurses who enjoy critical thinking, patient education, and procedural care—without the constant pace of traditional bedside nursing.

This role is full-time, 40 hours weekly; Monday-Friday 7:30p-4p or 7a-3:30p; weekend and holiday on-call requirements will be discussed during interview process.

This role will also require travel for outreach at other sites, including Muncy, Lewisburg and Shamokin.

  • A minimum of 2 years RN work experience is required. ICU, telemetry or procedural experience is strongly preferred.
  • Certification: Moderate Sedation Certification required within 1 year.

Position Details

  • Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
  • Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Administers medications during adult conscious sedation and pharmacological stress testing.
  • Assesses patient responses to medications and testing per protocols and document information in medical record.
  • Affirms all necessary paperwork and information is present for procedures.
  • Prepares patients for procedures.
  • Reviews history of allergies, medication list, etc.
  • Assesses patients physical status as well as their understanding of the procedure.
  • Provides patient and family education about procedure.
  • Ensures that patient has followed proper pre-test instructions.
  • Assesses patient per Joint Commission safety goals and follows up accordingly.
  • Applies monitoring equipment.
  • Maintains vital signs.
  • Performs emergency procedures when necessar.
  • Transports equipment to patients bedside when necessary.
  • Starts and regulates oxygen.
  • Maintains conscious sedation patients until transferred.
  • Assists with orientation of personnel and students.
  • Assists in approved research activities as needed.

Education

  • Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Nursing (Required)

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years-Nursing (Required)

Certification(s) and License(s)

  • Moderate Sedation Certification within 1 year - Default Issuing Body
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - RN_State of Pennsylvania
  • Basic Life Support Certification - Default Issuing Body
