Job Duties

  • Affords assessments, organizes, performs, and evaluates nursing activities to meet patient needs.
  • Promotes adaptive responses of patient and family to achieve optimal patient care, safety, and satisfaction.
  • Exhibits compassionate care during patient-nurse interactions.
  • Collaborates with staff to coordinate patient care.
  • Maintains qualifications to provide care for assigned nursing unit.
  • Ensures the best patient and family experience by optimizing interactions.
  • Completes assessments as per scope of practice and unit standards.
  • Addresses physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patient and family.
  • Formulates, coordinates, and provides a plan of care as per unit standards, including patient and family education, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary team collaboration.
  • Provides direct patient care, including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of nursing interventions and revises plan of care based on patient response.
  • Collaborates with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members to address patient needs.
  • Participates in problem-solving and troubleshooting related to equipment.
  • Participates in unit-based decision-making regarding evidence-based practice.
  • Participates in patient quality and safety education programs and other initiatives.
  • Works collaboratively as a team member and functions independently as needed.
  • Educates patients on chronic conditions to ensure they have the necessary resources for continued health after discharge.

Work Environment

The work environment is typically clinical. The position requires meeting all job-specific obligations and adhering to all organization policies and procedures.

Schedule Details

Full-time, night shift (36 hours weekly), every other weekend, every other holiday. Self-scheduling is offered for flexibility.

Unit Details

The Advanced Acute Care Cardiovascular (HFAM8) unit is a 30-bed, private room facility specializing in Cardiology, Vascular, Thoracic, and Med-Surgical care. It handles patients requiring conscious sedation for bedside cardioversions, chest tube insertion, Bi-PAP, high-flow, and ultrafiltration for heart failure. The unit also cares for patients post-cardiac catheterization and those with heart failure requiring inpatient interventions. A multidisciplinary approach is taken, involving nursing, physicians, respiratory, physical/occupational therapy, and care management teams.

Education & Experience

  • Graduate from a Specialty Training Program-Nursing.

Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support Certification - Default Issuing Body.
