About the role
This position is located on 3 South Telemetry at Henry Ford Health Genesys in Grand Blanc, Michigan. The role is part-time, working midnights, 18 hours per week, with every 3rd weekend coverage.
Responsibilities
- Use independent professional judgment, analytical skills, and the nursing process to provide a full range of delegated, interdependent, and independent nursing services to patients.
- Collaborate with patient/family, hospital staff, and community agencies to develop discharge plans that prepare patients for continued care needs.
- Utilize a variety of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic approaches to ensure patient comfort and relief of pain.
- Monitor, document, and report patient response to interventions and progress toward outcomes.
- Educate patient regarding treatment plan, safety measures, medications, and self-care as indicated.
- Work with Case Manager to ensure appropriate referrals initiated prior to discharge.
- Document patient care according to established documentation guidelines.
- Administer the following according to established policies and procedures: medications, IVs, blood products.
- Prepare patients for surgery or other invasive procedures according to established guidelines.
- Perform or assist with procedures according to established standards of care and nursing practice.
- Utilize equipment based on manufacturers instructions and established nursing procedure. Correctly operates and trouble shoots IV pumps, PCA pumps, epidural pumps, feeding pumps, patient beds, as applicable.
- Maintain peripheral IV therapy.
- Obtain body fluid and blood specimens.
- Recognize and respond to acute changes in patient status, including respiratory, neurologic, and cardiac status.
- Communicate with other professionals/departments and physician staff to ensure appropriate progress of patients through the system.
- Monitor individual patient length of stay (LOS); notify case manager and nurse manager of potential LOS/discharge issues.
- Identify ethical issues related to patient care and initiate steps for resolution.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Michigan RN license.
- Passing score on the NCLEX-RN.
- Experience in telemetry preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay
The starting salary for this position is $45.00 - $50.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
