RN Postpartum Family Care Center

M Health Fairview is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Post-Partum Unit/Family Care Center at Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN. Fairview Southdale Hospital serves the southwest Twin Cities metro area, offering over 40 specialty services that blend innovative technologies and treatments with compassionate care.

About This Unit

The Birthplace unit focuses on addressing the physical, emotional, and cultural needs of patients and their families. It consists of three components: NICU, Family Care Center, and Labor and Delivery. The unit supports professional growth through cross-training opportunities across its departments.

• 12 Labor/Delivery/Birthing rooms
• 4 flex rooms
• 3 OB triage rooms
• 2 operating rooms and a Recovery room
• 30-bed Mom/Baby private rooms
• 18-bed Level III NICU (caring for babies at 28 weeks and beyond)

The Birthplace averages 250 births per month.

Schedule

This position is 60 hours per two weeks on the day shift, with 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) and every third weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs and identify expected nursing outcomes.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and the healthcare team to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care.
• Develop an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition, and other relevant needs.
• Evaluate care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, and healthcare team members across care settings to promote partnership-based care.
• Advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways, and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
• Promote a culture of evidence-based practice (EBP).

Requirements

• Active Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross).
• NRP certification required before the end of orientation.
• 3–5 years of current RN OB/Post-Partum experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• 5 years of current OB/Post-Partum experience.
