About the role

Provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates learning needs of patient and family and provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.
• Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

Requirements

• Accredited Program: Nursing (Required)
• ACLS and/or BLS certification from American Heart Association or Red Cross (multiple accepted formats listed in posting)
• Registered Nurse Compact License (RN LICENSE COMPACT) or Registered Nurse License (RN LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
• Department-specific credentials:
  • ONCC Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Certificate required for RNs administering chemotherapy.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for ICU, ED, PACU, Endo, Tele, OB, MHN Pre-Op, and Specialty Procedural areas.
  • PALS required for Pediatric areas (except NICU).
  • Certification in Fetal Monitoring (Intermediate or Advanced) through National Credential Center or AWOHNN for L&D RNs.
• Newly licensed RNs have 6 months to obtain ACLS, PALS, and/or Fetal Monitoring (if L&D).
• RNs from non-pediatric backgrounds must obtain PALS within 30 days of taking the position.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of RN work experience.
• RN Fellowship Program requires one (1) year of RN independent practice (not inclusive of nurse orientation). RN Fellowship specialties require ACLS and BLS certifications.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

• Exposure to biohazardous waste, biological hazards (respiratory/skin/ingestion), blood/bodily fluids, communicable diseases/pathogens, hazardous chemicals/medications, needles/sharp objects, and cytotoxic chemicals (60–80%).
• Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, standing, walking, reaching, lifting/carrying patients (35+ lbs), and pushing/pulling (0–75 lbs non-patient).
• Moderate climbing, kneeling, sitting, and repetitive hand/arm movements (40–80%).
• Occasional exposure to fire risk, gas/vapors/fumes, moving mechanical parts, potential electric shock, physical assault, and wet/slippery surfaces (40–60%).
• High auditory and visual acuity (near/far) required (80%).
• No exposure to asbestos, extreme heat/cold, hypoxia, laser/high-intensity lights, latex, radiation, sudden decompression, or unprotected heights.
