Summary

Provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates learning needs of patient and family and provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.

• Accredited Program: Nursing (Required)
• ACLS Certifications:
  • American Heart Association E-Card (ACLS AHA ECARD)

  • Red Cross (ACLS RC)
  • Employee Grace Period for Essential Credential (ACLS GRACE)
• BLS Certifications:
  • American Heart Association E-Card (BLS AHA ECARD)

• Registered Nurse License:

Additional Requirements

• Department specific credentials:
  • ONCC Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Certificate required for those RNs administering chemotherapy.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for ICU, ED, PACU, Endo, Tele, OB, MHN Pre-Op, and Specialty Procedural areas.
  • PALS required for Pediatric areas with the exception of NICU.
  • Certification in Fetal Monitoring through National Credential Center or through AWOHNN (Intermediate or Advanced) for L&D RNs.
• Newly licensed RNs have 6 months to obtain ACLS and/or PALS, and Fetal Monitoring if in L&D.
• RNs from a non-pediatric background must obtain PALS within 30 days of taking the position.
• One (1) year of RN work experience required.
• RN Fellowship Program requires one (1) year of RN independent practice not inclusive of nurse orientation.
• RN Fellowship specialties require ACLS and BLS certifications.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

This role involves various physical demands and exposure to different environmental conditions, including but not limited to:

• Bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
• Exposure to biological hazards, blood, and bodily fluids.
• Lifting and carrying patients and equipment.
• Working with hazardous chemicals and medications.
• Using computers and other medical equipment.
