About the role
Provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and family and provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
- Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
- Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.

Requirements
- Accredited Program: Nursing (Required)
- ACLS certification (various accepted formats from American Heart Association or Red Cross)
- BLS certification (various accepted formats from American Heart Association or Red Cross)
- Registered Nurse Compact License or Registered Nurse License in the State of Florida
Department-specific credentials:
- ONCC Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Certificate required for those RNs administering chemotherapy.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for ICU, ED, PACU, Endo, Tele, OB, MHN Pre-Op, and Specialty Procedural areas.
- PALS required for Pediatric areas with the exception of NICU.
- Certification in Fetal Monitoring through National Credential Center or through AWOHNN (Intermediate or Advanced) for L&D RNs.
- Newly licensed RNs have 6 months to obtain ACLS and/or PALS, and Fetal Monitoring if L&D.
- If RN is coming from a non-pediatric background, it is required to obtain PALS within 30 days of taking the position.
Required Work Experience
- One (1) year of RN work experience.
- RN Fellowship Program requires one (1) year of RN independent practice not inclusive of nurse orientation. RN Fellowship specialties require ACLS and BLS certifications.
