Responsibilities
- Affords assessments of patients and families, offering appropriate teaching and making necessary referrals to ensure continuity of care.
- Develops individualized care plans collaboratively with patients/families and the healthcare team, promptly completing documentation to ensure an accurate legal record of patient care.
- Delivers high-quality care utilizing the nursing process, demonstrating knowledge and clinical skills pertinent to the specialty on the assigned unit.
- Utilizes a holistic approach considering biopsychosocial, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria for patients and families in the assigned service area.
- Delegates tasks and directs other healthcare providers, holding them accountable for their contributions to the care plan.
- Maintains responsibility and accountability for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients, utilizing nursing skills to complete health information collection for admission assessment.
- Identifies high-risk situations and communicates them to providers, delivering high-quality care during procedures, including those involving sedation, ensuring patients remain in a safe environment.
- Carefully assesses and cares for post-procedure patients, identifying their needs post-procedure to ensure readiness for discharge.
- Follows up with patients after discharge via follow-up phone calls to identify any future patient needs or referrals.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
- Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire.
- Must have and maintain CORE Certification within six (6) months from date of hire.
- Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English.
- Multicultural sensitivity.
- Microsoft Office – basic computer skills.
- Customer/patient focused.
- Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.
