RN OR/SURG Weekend Special Program (Experienced Only) Jefferson Highway

About the role

We're looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) or Surgical Nurse (OR/SURG) to join our Weekend Special Program. This role acts as a leader in providing patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. You'll effectively delegate, direct, and assist licensed and ancillary team members; assume accountability for quality patient outcomes; exhibit sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity; and participate in activities aimed at achieving unit and departmental strategic goals.

Responsibilities

• Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.
• Achieves learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for diverse patient, family, and other group or discipline needs.
• Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly and serves as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team.
• Uses data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Embraces behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improve the profession of nursing.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respecting privacy, method of introduction, explaining services or procedures, requesting permissions, and communication style.
• Performs other related duties as required.

The incumbent works in a patient care area; works in an area where patients enter; works directly with patients; and/or works with specimens that could contain communicable diseases. The incumbent has an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning, and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Required: Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
• Required: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Prior experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

• Good time management skills and ability to be self-directed and work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Good interpersonal, delegation, and leadership skills and ability to demonstrate good judgment and supervise or manage others.
