Responsibilities

  • Assess patient conditions and needs through comprehensive evaluations to develop individualized care plans.
  • Develop and implement patient care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, ensuring comprehensive and continuous care.
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely according to prescribed protocols.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient progress continuously, adjusting care plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Document patient care activities meticulously to maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
  • Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care to promote understanding and compliance.
  • Advocate for patient safety by identifying potential risks and implementing preventive measures.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
  • Maintain sterile environment and adhere to safety protocols to prevent infection and ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Perform therapeutic and diagnostic interventions such as IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.
  • Provide emotional and physical support to patients and their families during recovery.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal skill set, demonstrating compassion and respect to patients and family undergoing stressful procedures and treatments. [Required]
  • Works independently, self-motivated, takes direction from physician and management to complete assignments. [Required]
  • Maintain safe knowledge of equipment, procedures, supplies, computer, IV pumps, NOVA Glucose monitor, I-STAT, Immediate use sterilization policy and procedures. [Required]
  • Must be proficient in English. [Required]
  • Ability to communicate effectively. [Required]
  • EMR charting. [Required]
  • Computer literate. [Preferred]
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. [Preferred]
  • Must have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care that addresses the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-appropriate needs of the patient population served within the department. [Required]
  • Organizational skills. [Required]
  • Verbal interpersonal skills. [Required]
  • Customer relations. [Required]
  • Grammar/spelling. [Required]
  • Read/comprehend written instructions. [Required]
  • Follow verbal instructions. [Required]
  • Keyboarding (manual). [Required]
  • Computer (visual). [Required]
  • Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty. [Preferred]

Qualifications

  • Associate's of Nursing [Required]
  • Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
  • 1+ year medical surgical experience [Required]
  • 1+ year surgery experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications

  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
  • Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]
  • Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS) [Preferred]
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) [Preferred]
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) [Preferred]
  • ATD Master Instructional Designer Certified (ATD) [Preferred]
