RN - Operating Room MGH

About the Role

Mass General Brigham Danvers Outpatient Surgery Center is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse (RN) for our busy 8-OR outpatient surgery center, scheduled Monday through Friday. This role supports staffing flexibility, case volume, and continued high-quality perioperative care across multiple service lines, including General Surgery, Gynecology, Urology, Plastics, Orthopedics, ENT, Endoscopy, and Breast Surgery.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5+ years of Operating Room Nursing experience and be comfortable caring for a diverse patient population ranging from pediatric to geriatric. Per Diem support is essential to maintain safe staffing levels, ensure efficient patient flow, and support staff coverage for fluctuating case volumes.

This position requires scrub and circulate experience and is strongly preferred to work two days per week, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
• Administer medications to patients and monitor for reactions or side effects.
• Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
• Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
• Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
• Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
• Interpret the plan of medical care and assess patients' clinical decision-making regarding nursing care.
• Provide individualized nursing care and evaluate nursing care for groups of patients.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) state license.
• 0–1 year of clinical nursing experience (required); 3–5+ years of Operating Room Nursing experience (strongly preferred).
• Familiarity with principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.
• Knowledge of care required for respective age groups (pediatric to geriatric).
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.

Pay

$41.72 - $105.65/hour (Grade GHCARN055). Base pay is determined by skills, relevant experience, education, certifications, and other essential factors.

Schedule

• Per Diem (on-site at 102 Endicott Street, Danvers).
• Day shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
• Two days per week strongly preferred.
