Responsibilities
- To assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care at Registered Nurse skill level, in collaboration with the Medical Plan of Care, with a minimum of assistance.
- To function as primary care leader, associate, or charge nurse so that optimum quality of patient care is maintained according to the philosophy and objectives of Allen Hospital.
- To exercise accountability responsibility, authority, autonomy, and act as a role model and resource person with expanded theory and expertise.
- To perform pre and/or post-operative critical care for surgical patients.
- To maintain department competencies related to proper care of patients.
- To manage equipment and respond to emergencies, signaling concerns to Physicians within a timely manner.
- To operate equipment and perform technical skills according to policies and standards; learn new skills and seek assistance appropriately.
- To be responsible for sedation administration and recognize and assess the need for reversal and airway management.
- To have the ability to flex schedule and adapt to changes in workflow.
- To be able to respond to call as soon as needed, but no later than 30 minutes.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Nursing
- Current license in the state of Iowa or meets criteria established by Iowa Board of Nursing
- Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English
- Multicultural sensitivity
- Microsoft Office – basic computer skills
- Customer/patient focused
- Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions
- Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position
