RN-Operating Room

Responsibilities

• To assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care at Registered Nurse skill level, in collaboration with the Medical Plan of Care, with a minimum of assistance.
• To function as primary care leader, associate, or charge nurse so that optimum quality of patient care is maintained according to the philosophy and objectives of Allen Hospital.
• To exercise accountability responsibility, authority, autonomy, and act as a role model and resource person with expanded theory and expertise.
• To perform pre and/or post-operative critical care for surgical patients.
• To maintain department competencies related to proper care of patients.
• To manage equipment and respond to emergencies, signaling concerns to Physicians within a timely manner.
• To operate equipment and perform technical skills according to policies and standards; learn new skills and seek assistance appropriately.
• To be responsible for sedation administration and recognize and assess the need for reversal and airway management.
• To have the ability to flex schedule and adapt to changes in workflow.
• To be able to respond to call as soon as needed, but no later than 30 minutes.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Nursing
• Current license in the state of Iowa or meets criteria established by Iowa Board of Nursing
• Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English
• Multicultural sensitivity
• Microsoft Office – basic computer skills
• Customer/patient focused
• Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions
• Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position
