About the Role

To act as patient advocate, providing continuity of care designed to meet individual patient needs through collaboration with other members of the healthcare team and supporting the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the facility. The Staff Nurse will assess the needs of individual patients including but not limited to adult, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee daily operating room operations and patient flow.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, performance evaluations, and staff development.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and infection prevention standards.
  • Monitor quality, patient safety, and operational performance metrics.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, productivity, and resource utilization.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to improve service delivery and patient outcomes.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and patient satisfaction.
  • Maintain readiness for surveys and audits while ensuring adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Perform assessment/data collection in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychological, and cognitive status.
  • Formulate a goal-directed plan of care, prioritized and based on determined nursing diagnosis and patient outcomes.
  • Implement care in a knowledgeable, skilled, and consistent manner to achieve desired patient outcomes.
  • Establish priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs and available resources (time, personnel, equipment, and supplies).
  • Perform efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events.
  • Demonstrate applied knowledge base in medical/surgical patient care, pain assessment, pharmaceuticals, anesthetic agents, laboratory values, safety, legal issues, and emergency equipment.
  • Practice effective problem identification and resolution skills for sound decision-making.
  • Perform documentation duties on the floor and in the patient record, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and conciseness.
  • Work as part of a team in delivering patient care.
  • Maintain CPR/ACLS certification.
  • Attend all mandatory in-services and participate in staff meetings.
  • Remain flexible, adaptive, and open to new ideas and approaches.
  • Treat all patients equally, adopting the center’s Patient Rights policy.
  • Review and carry out physician orders in an appropriate professional manner.
  • Assist with other duties when asked.

Requirements

  • Degree from an accredited nursing program.
  • License as a registered nurse in the state where the facility is located.
  • Minimum of three years of work experience as a staff nurse.

RN First Assistant (RNFA) certification and/or experience preferred but not required. Candidates with hands-on first assist experience will be viewed favorably due to their enhanced understanding of surgical workflow, surgeon collaboration, and perioperative patient care.

  • Must be able to lift and/or carry over 20 pounds on a regular basis and push/pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk at least 10 hours per day.
