RN - Observation T6 (Inpatient) → Registered Nurse - Observation (Inpatient)

About the Role

This role involves providing acute care on a 35-bed Observation Unit, caring for patients with diverse needs such as cardiac, general surgery, and behavioral health, with a typical patient stay of 24-48 hours. The unit is fast-paced, team-oriented, and collaborates closely with physicians and ancillary staff. Key skills include Foley, IV, and NG insertions, telemetry monitoring, and patient connection, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments, develop and modify care plans, and document care accurately
• Ensure patient and staff safety, communicate effectively, and provide constructive feedback
• Assess IV sites, initiate IVs, and respond to changes in patient status
• Participate in departmental competencies and staff meetings

Requirements

• Licensed RN with Illinois registration
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days
