About the Unit
Our 8-bed Obstetrics Unit, renovated in 2019, includes:
- 3 Labor & Delivery rooms
- 5 Postpartum rooms
- An experienced, stable team of 13–15 RNs
The OB team is known for excellent Antepartum, Labor & Delivery, and Postpartum care. As the primary inpatient OB service for Mason County and surrounding communities, we serve families from areas including Cadillac, Lake County, and Oceana County.

Responsibilities
Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes:
- Ethical practice
- Culturally congruent practice
- Communication
- Collaboration
- Leadership
- Education
- Evidence-based practice and research
- Quality of practice
- Professional practice evaluation
- Resource utilization
- Environmental health

Requirements
- Associates in Nursing (Required)
- Bachelors in Nursing (Required within 5 years)
- MI Registered Nurse (RN) license (Required)
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required within 90 days)
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (Required within 6 months)
