About the role

As an OB Nurse at CHI St. Alexius Health Williston (part of CommonSpirit Health), you will guide patients through labor and childbirth, focusing on the safety of mother and baby with kindness and compassion. The role involves varied responsibilities in obstetrics, including triaging walk‑in patients, performing screening exams, managing routine inductions and deliveries, monitoring dilation and fetal heart rate, coaching mothers during delivery, and supporting partners and loved ones. The nurse must remain calm in emergencies, assess ante‑, intra‑, and post‑partal patients, detect changes, and act promptly.

Responsibilities

• Triaging patients and performing screening exams on walk‑ins.
• Guiding patients through routine inductions and deliveries.
• Monitoring maternal dilation progress and fetal heart rate continuously.
• Coaching mothers during delivery and providing updates and emotional support to partners and families.
• Assessing ante‑partal, intra‑partal, and post‑partal patients for risk factors, normal progress, and symptoms of problems.
• Detecting changes in symptoms, health, or pain and taking appropriate action.
• Responding to life‑saving situations in accordance with nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Setting priorities in the plan of care, anticipating needed personnel, supplies, and equipment.
• Collaborating with providers to deliver exceptional care.
• Administering medications, IV therapy, and treatments per policy.
• Providing patient and family education.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
• Licensed RN by the North Dakota Board of Nursing.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification completed within 6 months of start date.

Pay

Hourly rate ranges from $35.62 to $52.99.
