About the role

The Nursing Supervisor at Masonicare Health Center, a 260-bed Skilled Nursing Facility in Wallingford, CT, operates under the direction of the Assistant Director of Nursing and the Director of Nursing. This role carries the authority and responsibility for upholding established standards of nursing practice and care, ensuring the quality, safety, and appropriateness of care during the off shift. The Nursing Supervisor collaborates with Clinical Nurse Managers to provide direction, allocate nursing personnel, coordinate nursing activities, and serve as a clinical resource to all staff.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives to ensure consistent nursing practice standards across the Masonicare Health Center (MHC) facility.
  • Upholds the nursing program during the off shift by allocating nursing personnel, coordinating nursing activities, supervising nursing staff, and serving as a clinical resource.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill to provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the age, needs, and abilities of residents/patients.
  • Interacts professionally with staff, physicians, patients, and families to ensure effective and efficient care delivery.
  • Communicates effectively through verbal reports, written documentation, and attendance at administrative meetings to disseminate important information to off-shift staff.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs both in and out of the facility.
  • Attends all mandatory education programs, in-servicing, and meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing; BS in nursing or healthcare-related field preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity preferred.
  • Current RN license in the State of Connecticut.
  • CPR certification.

  • Ability to accurately assess and prioritize resident needs.
  • Strong management and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of computers.

Pay

$5,000 sign-on bonus in the first year of employment.

Schedule

Night shift, 24 hours per week, every other weekend (EOW).
