About the Role
This is a part-time position working every Friday and Saturday from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
Responsibilities
- Provide clear, well-communicated expectations related to department or unit goals and objectives.
- Deliver frequent, constructive feedback, including interim evaluations as appropriate.
- Counsel staff as indicated and formulate employee progress plans; extend probationary periods if standards are not met.
- Ensure compliance with performance planning and evaluation system requirements, completing evaluations by deadlines with proper documentation.
- Address and document performance and safety issues promptly.
- Participate in formulating, interpreting, and implementing department objectives to provide quality resident care in compliance with established guidelines and regulations.
- Review the effectiveness of resident care plans, departmental, and facility administrative policies and procedures.
- Receive and give daily reports, conduct rounds, and perform unit surveys and audits.
- Initiate, coordinate, or recommend corrective actions to resolve resident care, procedural, or physical problems.
- Assume responsibility for administrative and operational decisions of the facility in the absence of the Director of Nursing (DON).
- Coordinate with physicians and ancillary departments to assess resident needs and treatments.
- Make immediate operational decisions regarding emergency care and resolve department staffing problems.
- Function as a Charge Nurse if necessary.
- Enforce safety rules and regulations; report and investigate work-related incidents accurately and timely.
- Initiate or recommend corrective actions to avoid recurrence of incidents.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area throughout the facility.
- Evaluate and adjust staffing resources as needed.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of all nursing staff during tours of duty.
- Initiate informal or formal counseling of staff; recommend discipline, promotion, transfer, salary adjustments, or other personnel transactions as authorized.
- Participate in the grievance process and provide written responses as authorized by facility policy.
- Communicate with staffing agency representatives when necessary.
- Attend Nurse Management and other assigned meetings.
- Communicate changes in policy and procedures and discuss department concerns/priorities with subordinates.
- Stay informed of new nursing care methods and equipment.
- Assist in identifying department training needs, orient, and train employees as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the Nursing department’s mission and as situations warrant to meet facility needs.
- May be required to assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Requirements
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience in Geriatrics and In-Service Education.
Qualifications
Applicants must be a citizen or national of the U.S., a Lawful Permanent Resident, or an alien authorized to work. Excluding current DVS employees, the selected candidate must pass a criminal background check, pre-employment drug screening, and two TB Skin Tests.
Pay
Hiring range: $42.25 - $50.00 per hour.
Schedule
Part-time, every Friday and Saturday from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
