About the Role

A Registered Nurse is a healthcare professional skilled in all phases of the nursing process, adaptable to the needs of the family unit during health and illness, and able to prioritize. The RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates daily patient care, and is responsible for directing assigned personnel. This role provides professional nursing care for patients in labor, delivery, postpartum, Nursery I, Nursery II, antepartum, and Gynecology according to established standards and practices.

Sign-on bonus available: $10,000 for candidates with greater than 1 year of experience, $5,000 for those with less than 1 year of experience (external candidates only).

Responsibilities

• Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service.
• Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
• Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care to assure integration of information for use by the healthcare team.
• Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care based on patient and family needs.
• Implements plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures; modifies plan based on continuous evaluation.
• Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents.
• Communicates directly and privately to resolve issues; provides constructive feedback to assist in professional development.
• Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to address them; confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base.
• Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies.
• Recognizes norms for the population receiving care and reports abnormalities to the physician.
• Assists with orientation, instruction, training, and supervision of staff members as assigned.
• Performs proper procedures for use of fetal heart monitor (external/internal).
• Performs proper technique for vaginal exams, assessing position, dilation, and station.
• Understands principles, administration, maintenance, and adverse effects of toxolytic agents in antepartum patients.
• Performs comfort measures for patients as needed.
• Efficient in the role of circulating nurse for vaginal delivery.
• Participates in transferring maternal patients to other facilities via ambulance.
• Instructs patients in peri-care, breast care, proper diets, and post-delivery/surgical activity.
• Performs patient assessments and provides infant care.
• Completes all unit competencies.
• Administers medications per physician orders.
• Documents all care in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

Requirements

• Current IL RN license.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS certification within 1 year of hire.
• NRP certification within 1 year of hire.

Qualifications

• College Diploma in Nursing.

Pay

The compensation range for this position is $36.80 per hour to $59.89 per hour. The actual compensation offered will depend on factors including experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and compensation model.
