About the role

The RN New Grad Residency Program is designed for December 2026 graduates to develop clinical skills and apply newly acquired knowledge in patient care under supervision.

Cohorts

Cohorts are determined based on your start date. Applications are open year-round, and your cohort will be determined by your start date. For consideration for Critical Care Units, clinical experience, externships, senior practicums, or specific nursing curriculum courses are highly preferred.

Description

Job Summary: The Resident RN Clinician is an entry-level nurse participating in the Nursing Residency Program (NRP) to develop clinical skills and apply newly acquired knowledge in patient care. Under supervision, the residents learn to assess patient needs, implement care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes. With experience, they integrate with the AACN Synergy Model for Patient Care to provide individualized care.

Primary duties and responsibilities

  • Develops basic assessment skills and applies nursing knowledge to patient care.
  • Recognizes the impact of nursing interventions on patient outcomes.
  • Documents patient care accurately in electronic and physical records.
  • Identifies patient and family learning needs and utilizes resources accordingly.
  • Demonstrates time management and delegation skills based on the Synergy Model.
  • Functions as a Charge Nurse only in extenuating circumstances.

Communication & Team Collaboration

  • Enhances listening abilities and recognizes obstacles to effective communication.
  • Sets seeks assistance when needed and collaborates with the healthcare team.
  • Ensures efficient use and accurate billing of medical supplies.
  • Upholds and ensures the confidentiality of patient information.

Professional Development & Compliance

  • Identifies personal learning needs and engages in continuous education.
  • Completes orientation, annual health assessments, and regulatory/safety training.
  • Successfully completes the residency program and maintains required performance standards.
  • Attends at least 75% of department-based meetings.

Qualifications

  • Minimum required: Education - Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
  • Experience - 1. New graduate with no experience. Entry-level nurses serving in their first nursing role are required to participate in the NRP. 2. Must enter the program within 12 months of graduation (exceptions considered for personal or military commitments).
  • Licensure - Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.
  • Additional requirements may include additional certifications and an active compact/multistate license for multi-state practice.
