About the role

The ChristianaCare Nurse Residency Program is a structured and accredited program designed to support new to practice nurses, particularly those with less than 12 months of experience. The program aims to enhance clinical competence, reduce errors, decrease stress, and boost job satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in intensive preceptor-led training on a stepdown unit for 5-6 weeks.
  • Complete up to 18 weeks of clinical training in the ICU of hire.
  • Shadow experiences within the hiring critical care units at Newark, Wilmington, and Cecil campuses.
  • Attend residency seminars to further develop as professional nurses and integral members of the caregiver team.

Requirements

  • Graduating from an accredited nursing school before March 2027 (BSN preferred).
  • BLS certification required.
  • Less than 12 months of nursing experience by the start of the program.
  • Eligible for Delaware license as a Graduate Nurse/Registered Nurse.
  • Working, clinical, or shadow experience in Critical Care is preferred.

Qualifications

Graduating students graduating December 2026 or sooner are invited to join us for the Nurse Residency Open House on June 1, 2026. Applications will be open until August 16th, 2026.

Pay

Schedule

Nurse residents are expected to commit to working at ChristianaCare for two years, with 15 months on the unit of hire.
