General Information
- Beds: 10
- Experience: 2 years required
- First-time traveler: Upon review; at minimum 2 years experience
- Patient Types: High Acuity patients, Cardiac Step Down (no step down at this facility), post procedure cardiac patients, PD, secondary stroke unit, CHF, ENSRD, telemetry required, read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips independently, general MS
- Patient Ratios: RN: Days – 1:4-5; Nights 1:5. Typically 3 RNs per shift. Tech: Days – 1:5; Nights 1:5-10; 2 CNAs
Required Certifications
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
Skills Required
- Read/interpret strips
- Cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem)
- Pull Sheaths (permanent staff), monitor sheath site
- Pre/Post Cardiac Cath experience (femoral/radial)
- Chest tube
- Non-titrating nitro
- Non-titrating dobutamine (ICU if titrated)
- Post pacemaker
Support on the Unit
- Charge nurse: takes patient assignment
- Phlebotomy: shared responsibility with RN for blood draws
- RT, 24/7 Hospitalist, 24/7 OT, PT, ST
- IV Team – Monday, Wednesday, Friday day shift only

Schedule
- Shift: 12hr Evening Shift (36 hours), 1845-0715
- Weekend rotation: every 3rd weekend
- Holiday Requirements: every other holiday rotation (1 summer, 1 winter – Christmas Eve/Day or New Years Eve/Day)
- Floating: Required to other MS areas in rotation
- On call: No; low census in 4-hour increments (mainly nights)
- Orientation: 1-2 shifts to learn flow
- Time off: Ask permission from Manager
