Unit Information
- 24 beds
- Patient ratios: Days/Eves 1:4-5, Nights 1:5
- Support: CNA (1:5-10 ratio, can do vitals, BG, IV removals); HUC on days, part-time on eves; Charge nurse takes modified patient assignment
- Phlebotomy for peripheral lab draws; no IV/VAT Team (notify House Super for hard sticks)
- RT and Hospitalist available 24/7; OT/PT/ST during weekdays
Patient Types & Common Diagnoses
- Ortho: total hip and knee replacements, spinal surgeries
- General MedSurg: CHF, COPD, respiratory/kidney/liver/GI issues
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience
- Active BLS certification
- NIHSS preferred
Skills Required
- PIV starts
- Wound care, dressing changes, wound vacs
- Drains and chest tubes
- Stable trach management
- Knowledge of patients on BiPAP/CPAP
- Insulin and heparin drip management
Technology & Equipment
- EMR: EPIC (preferred experience)
- IV Pump: Alaris
- Med Dispensing: Pyxis
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts (1500-0300)
- Weekend rotation: every third
- No on-call requirement
- Holiday expectations: up to 3 holidays per contract (Thanksgiving Eve, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, NYE, NYD, 4th of July, Labor Day, Memorial Day)
- Shift times available: 0700-1900, 1500-0300, 1900-0700, 0300-1500
- Schedule cycle: made in 4-6 week increments, received 2 weeks prior
- RTO approval: up to 7 days
