About the Role

Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility with 25 inpatient beds in Paris, IL, and multiple outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. We serve residents of Edgar County through community education, emergency services, and outpatient care. This role involves both administrative and clinical duties, supporting direct patient care and ensuring optimal workflow for healthcare providers across all age groups.

Responsibilities

• Build good rapport with co-workers and medical providers to foster a pleasant work environment.
• Prepare patients for exams and assist healthcare providers as needed.
• Prepare, administer, and order medication under provider delegation with proper documentation.
• Complete and document point-of-care testing performed in the department.
• Share and discuss diagnostic results from completed tests as delegated by the provider.
• Handle telephone calls, triaging patient requests and prioritizing workflow.
• Schedule patients and monitor patient throughput.
• Use office equipment to coordinate patient care and maintain the physical office environment.
• Report equipment in need of repair and inventory supplies.
• Perform patient intake, capturing historical and current wellness information, screenings, and vitals.
• Communicate with interdisciplinary services regarding patient needs using behavioral standards.
• Practice professional communication and customer service with patients and families.
• Follow infection control procedures and obtain specimens with appropriate handling guidelines.
• Queue orders and testing for authorized sign-off and prioritize incoming communications.
• Assist with obtaining prior authorizations from insurance companies.
• Provide patient status reports between various levels of care within departments.
• Deliver front-line service recovery and patient education on new diagnoses, chronic disease progression, and medications.

Additional activities may be required to support the hospital’s goals and objectives.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (for RN/LPN) or medical assisting program (for CMA).
• Current Illinois license as RN, LPN, or CMA.
• Current BLS certification.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge and application of the nursing process.
• Ability to perform complex and varied tasks in a fast-paced, interrupt-driven environment.

Pay

• RN: $23.855/hour to $38.168/hour (based on applicable years of experience).
• LPN: $18.122/hour to $28.329/hour (based on applicable years of experience).
• CMA: $15.750/hour to $25.216/hour (based on applicable years of experience).
