Position Overview

The Clinic CMA/LPN/RN plays a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care within both medical and behavioral health settings. This position is responsible for assisting providers and clinical staff to ensure efficient patient/client flow. The Clinical staff perform routine administrative and clinical tasks and helps ensure positive care experiences for all patients/clients at the Family Health Center. This is a float position, which includes a designated home clinic as your primary location. However, you may be assigned to provide coverage at other clinics within Knox and surrounding counties as needed. Work hours will vary while floating, based on the location and coverage requirements. An effort will be made to provide advanced notice if the coverage schedule differs from the employee’s normal hours' however, flexibility is required for a float position, to ensure adequate clinic staffing.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare exam rooms and patients for provider visits, procedures, and treatments
  • Obtain and review medical histories, medications, vital signs, and other health information
  • Absorb and assist providers during examinations and procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort
  • Administer medications as directed by licensed providers, in accordance with scope of practice
  • Perform basic laboratory tests
  • Accurately document all patient interactions in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Cook up referrals, prior authorizations and medication calls as needed
  • Maintain neat and clean work and storage areas, specifically supplies
  • Complies with all regulatory, state, and federal regulations as well as FHC policies and procedures
  • Obtains and maintains required competencies for the role
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Work-Related Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in primary care, mental health, or integrated healthcare setting preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Mental: Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations, such as medical emergencies or crisis interventions. Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills in dynamic patient care settings. Ability to remain calm and make critical decisions in high-pressure situations. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and multitasking abilities. Emotional resilience when working with patients experiencing crisis, trauma, or chronic illnesses. Ability to provide compassionate care while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Physical: Frequent standing, walking, and occasional lifting of patients or equipment (up to 20 lbs). Ability to perform repetitive motions, including typing for EHR documentation. Frequent standing, walking, and reaching to provide patient care. Dexterity to perform hands-on procedures such as injections and diagnostic testing. Occasional exposure to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and hazardous materials; adherence to infection control protocols is required. Prolonged sitting at a desk with frequent computer use.

Working Conditions

  • Clinical environment with exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and emotionally challenging patient cases.

Education, Certification, and Licensure

  • Certification: Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited program
  • Licensure: Must have a valid driver's license, LPN/RN from an accredited program

Pay

$2,000 sign-on bonus for any new FULL TIME CMA – 1-year commitment.
