About the Role

This position involves delivering patient-centered care through the development, implementation, and modification of individualized care plans. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, delegate tasks appropriately, and ensure accurate documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement a written plan of care tailored to each patient’s needs and goals, making referrals to other professional services as needed.
  • Modify the plan of care based on patient reassessment, observed responses to treatment, and progress toward goals; delegate tasks to team members within their scope of practice.
  • Observe, document, and implement planned interventions, ensuring accurate and timely communication of the care plan to all team members through electronic medical records and verbal reports.
  • Provide direct patient care, including IV starts/restarts, blood administration, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing under CLIA 1988 regulations.
  • Administer medications accurately and timely per physician orders and organizational policies, monitoring for side effects, allergic reactions, and documenting patient responses.
  • Facilitate patient transitions through walking rounds and provide clear, concise reports to incoming staff.
  • Communicate changes in patient condition or abnormal findings to physicians, other disciplines, and family members.
  • Deliver clear, specific educational and discharge information to patients and their families.
  • May precept new employees and oversee other care team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing by the date of hire (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred).
  • RN license in the state of Indiana by the date of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within six months of hire (American Heart Association).
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) and S.T.A.B.L.E. certification for nursery staff; Basic Telemetry may be required for labor and delivery staff at management discretion.

Qualifications

  • One (1) year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting preferred.
  • Preferred certifications: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
