Job Summary

Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based labor and delivery nursing care to patients on site.
  • Lead and evaluate L&D patient flow to optimize throughput and wait times.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal status; respond to emergencies with rapid interventions.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and facility policies.
  • Collaborate with obstetrics team to develop and adjust care plans.
  • Document care accurately in electronic health records per policy.
  • Track and report quality metrics and outcomes to leadership.
  • Participate in simulation drills and continuous education to advance skills.
  • Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, and post-partum expectations.
  • Mentor junior staff and share best practices to support growth and development.
  • Demonstrate accountability for personal performance goals within the team.

Requirements

  • Current RN license with active obstetric (L&D) nursing certification.
  • 1-3 years L&D bedside experience maintaining safety and patient throughput.
  • Ability to monitor fetal/m maternal status and perform rapid emergency interventions.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records and accurate obstetric documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and facility policies (HIPAA, JCAHO).
  • Lead L&D patient flow, optimize throughput, and reduce wait times.
  • Track, analyze, and report quality metrics and outcomes to leadership.
  • BSN preferred; evidence-based obstetric care knowledge and practice.
  • Participate in simulation drills and ongoing professional development.
  • Mentor and coach junior staff; share best practices for team growth.
