Job Summary
Talented Medical Solutions is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a contract position in the Labor & Delivery (L&D) unit at our in-office location in Bakersfield, CA. The position is available for night shift work, including 36-hour/48-hour shifts, with a 13-week cycle. The role involves coordinating nursing care, supervising staff, and collaborating with other healthcare providers.
About the Role
The L&D unit at our facility is equipped with specialized equipment and performs a variety of procedures, including cesarean sections, D&C, hysterectomies, and vaginal repairs. The unit also supports the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Postpartum (PP) services.
Responsibilities
- Delivers coordinated nursing care for patients according to established standards.
- Supervises and directs activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff.
- Collaborates with the team to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Evaluates patient progress and adjusts care plans accordingly.
- Coordinates care with other healthcare providers.
- Provides learning opportunities for patients and their families.
- Participates in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
- Delegates tasks and coordinates duties among healthcare team members.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Acute care facility experience preferred.
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS certification.
- Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) certification.
- AHA-NRP or ARC-NALS certification.

- Proficiency in using the Pyxis medication system and Cerner electronic medical record (EMR).

Schedule
Night shift work, including 36-hour/48-hour shifts, with a 13-week cycle. Weekend coverage is required, with 6 weekends every 6 weeks, including 3 days and 1 day off.
