Qualifications

Required:

  • Advanced nursing skills
  • Ability to obtain and apply terminology, theory, techniques, and practices of professional nursing, including normal conditions of the ICU specialty
  • Understanding of medical, surgical asepsis, and disease processes
  • Efficiency in care management and flexibility with priorities and activity
  • Demonstrated skills in analyzing problems, decision-making, planning, and implementing action
  • Knowledge of and ability to use specialized equipment for assigned unit
  • Courteous, accountable, and mature with the ability to accept responsibility
  • Active listening skills; objective and impartial
  • Initial TNCC trauma training; may transition to TCAR for ongoing trauma education
  • Current Oregon RN license

Preferred:

  • One year of acute care experience
  • CCRN, PALS certifications

Typical Physical/Mental Demands

  • Good general health
  • Frequent stooping, bending, and reaching
  • Constant walking, standing, lifting at least 50 pounds or more
  • Ability to push/pull regulation hospital equipment
  • Occasional sitting
  • Ability to function during periods of stress, trauma, and/or disease
  • Knowledge and practice of safe body mechanics
  • Flexibility to meet staffing needs of the assigned unit

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates and applies in-depth knowledge of nursing principles, practices, standards, and techniques
  • Applies nursing knowledge in accordance with department and Medical Center policies and procedures
  • Maintains awareness of the abilities and limitations of each staff member and assigns duties appropriately
  • Assesses patients and implements nursing actions to meet physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and intellectual needs; documents those needs clearly and objectively
  • Actively initiates, reviews, and documents patients’ Plan of Care elements every shift
  • Involvement in cost containment efforts
  • Identifies and solves problems using critical thinking and professional judgment
  • Communicates effectively with physicians, patients, families, and peers using pertinent data
  • Supports, educates, and manages co-workers positively
  • Effective, accurate, and timely communication of problems and participation in resolution
  • Initiates, supports, modifies, and improves nursing practice as departmental goals evolve
  • Regularly reviews work in progress to ensure care proceeds as scheduled
  • Involves patients and families in education and preparation for discharge
  • Takes personal accountability for ongoing professional development in partnership with department leadership
  • Demonstrates prioritization and effective time management
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Pay

$53.87 - $76.92 per hour
