This night-shift RN position in the ICU offers up to a $15,000 sign-on bonus for candidates with 1+ years of ICU experience.

Responsibilities

  • Practice guided by ANA Standards for Professional Nurses and Code of Ethics.
  • Record patients’ medical history and symptoms; perform diagnostic tests and analyze results.
  • Operate medical equipment, administer treatments and medications, and assist with patient follow-up and rehabilitation.
  • Establish or contribute to care plans, including:
    • Administering medication with careful dosage checks and interaction monitoring.
    • Managing intravenous (IV) lines for fluids, medications, blood, and blood products.
    • Administering therapies and treatments.
    • Observing and recording patient progress.
    • Consulting with physicians and other healthcare clinicians.
  • Educate patients and families on:
    • Managing illnesses or injuries.
    • Post-treatment and home care needs.
    • Diet, nutrition, and exercise programs.
    • Self-administration of medication and therapy.
  • Direct and delegate care tasks to licensed practical nurses and nursing aides.
  • Precept new hires and students, assisting them in completing competency skills.
  • Enhance clinical knowledge and skills in nursing management and patient care.
  • Collect and prioritize health data systematically, involving the family in assessments.
  • Analyze assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses and develop individualized, evidence-based care plans.
  • Identify expected outcomes tailored to the patient’s condition and needs.
  • Implement and evaluate interventions in the care plan, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Provide nursing care addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, and sociocultural needs using a family-centered approach.
  • Document observations, interventions, and monitoring data in a retrievable format.
  • Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of care plans to enhance patient outcomes and cost-effective healthcare delivery.
  • Assess and improve one’s own nursing practice in relation to professional standards, statutes, and regulations.
  • Integrate ethical principles and cultural/diversity awareness into practice.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
  • Develop and evaluate evidence-based standards of care for patients.
  • Identify and implement changes in nursing practice using an evidence-based approach.
  • Participate in and apply evidence-based research to improve nursing practice and patient outcomes.
  • Design and apply research to support clinical, educational, and managerial data.
  • Plan and deliver patient care considering safety, effectiveness, and cost, utilizing resources efficiently.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Diploma in Nursing (required).
  • Bachelor’s in Nursing (BSN) preferred; all Diploma and ADN hires must complete a BSN within 60 months of hire or have 5+ years of Registered Nurse experience (including direct or indirect RN roles) at the time of hire.
  • Stroke-specific education requirements apply for staff caring for stroke patients (prior to start).
  • 1+ years of RN experience in a med-surg or acute specialty setting (required).
  • 1+ years of ICU experience (preferred).

Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
  • State and/or compact state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Arizona (required upon hire).
  • Unit-specific certification for the patient population (preferred).
  • National certification for unit-specific patient population (preferred).
