Key Responsibilities

  • Serves as a resource for all staff and a representative of Nursing management while proactively coordinating high quality, safe patient care flow, managing continuous process improvement, and supporting a positive, respectful, and professional working environment for all.
  • Adheres to all areas of the KHI Behavioral Expectations Agreement and Social Media Guidelines; Supports/embraces KHI’s Mission, Vision, and values, as well as promote a positive image of KHI; Acts as a role model to staff; Maintains patient and staff confidentiality; Maintains a professional appearance and manner at all times; Supports a healthy work environment through skilled communication, true collaboration, effective decision making, appropriate staffing and meaningful recognition.
  • Maintains hospital activity in the absence of Department Directors and Nursing Administration. Coordinates staffing for current and next shift for optimal productivity, taking into consideration patient acuity and staff expertise. Utilize human and material resources effectively. Evaluate staffing needs based on patient acuity and productivity and calls in emergency staff, as necessary.
  • Engages and communicates with staff to ensure consistency and standardization of information. Provides and manages constructive feedback. Provides input regarding employee performance evaluations and competencies. Addresses and reports policy non-conformities.
  • Works to meet Patient, Physician and Staff Satisfaction goals by setting the example, using scripting and contributing to teamwork on the units. Contribute to attainment of Nursing Division goal of reaching 90 th percentile for patient satisfaction.
  • Provides evidence-based care so as to prevent the development of a Healthcare Acquired Condition and hospital readmissions. Practices standard precautions during patient contact and while handling contaminated materials. Complies with CDC hand hygiene guidelines and works to reduce hospital acquired infections and other conditions.
  • Assists with Performance Improvement activities on the units. Analyzes the assessment data to identify possible needs by staff, patients, and patient families. Proactively supports staff to ensure our patient’s progress towards attainment of desired outcomes, including plan of care revisions, as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate Degree in Nursing or graduate of a Nursing Diploma program.
  • Licensure: Current, valid Arizona RN license or compact state RN license.
  • Certification: Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross. De-escalation Techniques course within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years’ experience as RN. Preferences: RN experience in a variety of areas, including Med/Surg, Critical Care, OB, Nursery, and Pediatric care. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
