About the role

The purpose of this position is to harness the skills of an experienced RN who recently retired, leveraging extensive knowledge while supporting the nursing care team by alleviating administrative tasks to enhance patient care delivery. The RN will provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols across multiple units, departments, and locations at Cleveland Clinic’s Independence Family Health Center, a patient‑friendly facility offering primary care, express care, and a wide array of specialties.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Provide coaching, teaching, and educational material as appropriate.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ admission planning, discharge planning, and educational needs.
• Monitor, record, document, and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Evaluate, update, and revise plans of care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

Minimum qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Three years of experience in an RN Hospital position at the Cleveland Clinic immediately prior to retirement.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Physical requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for periods of time.
• Ability to sit at a computerized workstation for extended periods.
• May require full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Possible exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium work – may include exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
• Physical demand requirements exceed those for Light Work.
• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Schedule

Variable shifts (4, 6, 8, or 12‑hour shifts).

Pay

Minimum hourly: $43.00 – Maximum hourly: $43.00. Compensation will be determined based on work history, experience, skill set, and education. Shift differentials, overtime, and the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package are not included in the displayed range.
