This position is responsible for providing after-hours hospice support, triaging patient and family needs, completing skilled nursing visits, and performing admissions as needed. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a passion for providing quality end-of-life care.Schedule & Work DetailsJob Type: Local ContractContract Length: 14 WeeksLocation: Birmingham (Trussville), ALSchedule: 7 Days On / 7 Days Off, NightsHours: Work 7 consecutive nights followed by 7 consecutive days offWeekend Requirement: Every other weekend, alternating with another 7-on/7-off RNCoverage Area: Jefferson County, St. Clair County, Blount County, Cullman County, and Etowah CountyMileage Reimbursement: Yes, mileage is reimbursed between patient visitsPay Rate: $51.00 - $53.00 per hour *Pay offered is based on experience, expertise, credentialing, and education.Key ResponsibilitiesRespond to and triage after-hours patient and caregiver calls. Provide skilled hospice nursing visits as scheduled and on an as-needed (PRN) basis. Complete hospice admissions and start-of-care visits as needed. Assess patient status and implement appropriate interventions to promote comfort and symptom management. Educate patients and families regarding hospice care, disease progression, medications, and symptom management. Collaborate with physicians, hospice leadership, and the interdisciplinary care team to ensure quality patient care. Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation. Required QualificationsActive Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Alabama. Current CPR certification. Ability to independently assess and manage patient needs in the home setting. Strong clinical judgment and communication skills. Ability to effectively triage urgent patient and caregiver concerns. Preferred QualificationsPrevious hospice experience. Experience with Homecare Homebase (HCHB) EMR. Experience providing after-hours or on-call nursing services. Strong symptom management and end-of-life care skills. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
