RN / Health & Nutrition Services Professional - Norwalk

Connecticut Institute For Communities, Inc. (CIFC) seeks a part-time (15 hours per week) Early Childhood Programs Health & Nutrition Services Professional / RN to work in our Norwalk facilities.

About the Role

This position serves as the Health & Nutrition Services Professional for CIFC’s Norwalk Early Childhood programs. Responsibilities include ensuring the delivery of health and nutrition services to children and families, coordinating screenings, tracking medical care, and educating parents on health and nutritional needs. The role works closely with teaching staff, family advocates, and the management team to maintain compliance with Head Start/EHS health and nutrition Performance Standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct required 45-day and 90-day health screenings for children in Early Childhood programs.
• Track the continuing medical care of each child and educate parents on ongoing health needs.
• Coordinate with teaching staff, family advocates, and management to deliver health services.
• Ensure the health and safety of physical environments where services are delivered.
• Fulfill all Head Start/EHS health-related Performance Standards, including Child Health and Safety and Child Health and Development Services.
• Oversee the implementation of nutrition services, including meal delivery for children and adults at program events.
• Collaborate with family advocates to educate families on nutritional needs and support them in meeting nutritional goals.
• Integrate nutrition-related lessons into classroom curricula in coordination with teachers.
• Provide educational resources for families on nutrition and dietary-related subjects.
• Interface with the Head Start Dietician Consultant (if applicable) and the Child Adult Community Food Program (CACFP) Manager.
• Serve as the equivalent of a “School Nurse” for CIFC Early Childhood programs.

Requirements

• State of CT DPH RN License.
• At least 2 years of early childhood experience or equivalent.
• Pass physical examination, background check, and fingerprinting screen.
• Able to lift a child weighing 40 pounds, 20 times a day if needed.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Basic computer literacy in email, word processing, and internet navigation.
• Maintain certification in CPR and First Aid.
