Responsibilities
- Perform and document accurate initial and ongoing assessments to evaluate patient conditions and needs.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to address identified patient needs and goals.
- Administer medications accurately and appropriately as ordered, monitoring patient responses and adjusting interventions as necessary.
- Supervise and guide nursing personnel in delivering safe, therapeutic, and quality patient care, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
- Provide patient and family education about the care plan, medications, procedures, and other relevant information to ensure understanding and compliance.
- Assist physicians with bedside procedures and prepare patients for tests, procedures, and surgeries.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by adhering to policies, procedures, and infection control protocols.
- Document all pertinent patient care information accurately and timely in the patient's medical record.
- Participate in quality improvement and research activities by engaging in unit-based initiatives and evidence-based practice projects.
- Respond effectively to emergencies by providing necessary interventions and coordinating with the healthcare team to stabilize patients.
Requirements
- Associate's of Nursing [Required]
- Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
- 1 year of nursing experience in an acute hospital setting.
- Equipment use to stabilize and monitor patients (IV insertion, central lines, pulse ox, NG tubes, Foley, chest tubes, hemodynamics monitoring), including electronic medical record and automated dispensing medication system (pyxis).
- Basic computer skills – must be able to navigate Microsoft windows based programs.
- Must be fluent in English (read, verbal and written skills).
- Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes.
