About the role

The clinical nurse, under the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the nursing process framework to provide professional nursing care incorporating patient-family centered care principles. The Clinical Nurse delivers quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent from an accredited school of nursing (required).
  • BSN, MSN, or DNP/PhD required if not minimum BSN-prepared. New graduates or nurses with less than one year of experience must enroll in an accredited BSN program within one year of licensure and complete it within five years (effective April 18, 2023).
  • Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license (required upon hire).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation (required upon hire).
  • At least one specialty certification from the preferred list (required upon hire).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required upon hire; exceptions for Dearborn, Farmington Hills, Taylor). ACLS required within 180 days for Critical Care, Emergency Care, Pre-Op and PACU, and Radiology.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification from the Emergency Nurses Association (required within 1 year for Emergency Care).
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification from the Emergency Nurses Association (required within 1 year for Emergency Care).
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from the American Heart Association (required within 180 days for NICU, Family Birth Center, and Mother Baby Care).
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification (C-EFM) from the National Certification Corporation (required within 1 year for Family Birth Center).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association (required within 1 year for Pediatrics; required within 180 days for Pre-Op & PACU).

Schedule
