About the role

The Operating Room RN – First Assistant utilizes the nursing process to deliver exceptional patient care while maintaining professional accountability for assigned patients. This role coordinates patient care in collaboration with other departments, ensures patient rights and confidentiality, provides leadership and evaluation of other caregivers, and embodies Mercy’s mission, values, and guiding principles.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care
• Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for assigned patients
• Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers
• Coordinates patient care in conjunction with other departments
• Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information
• Performs duties in a manner consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards
• Provides intraoperative care as a First Assistant, including tissue handling, suturing, hemostasis, and wound closure

Requirements

• Current RN Temporary Permit or RN License in the State of Missouri
• Minimum 2 years of intraoperative experience as both scrub and circulating nurse (3+ years preferred)
• BLS/ACLS – required within 1 year of hire
• CNOR & RN-First Assistant certification required within 1 year of hire

Qualifications

• Preferred Certifications: CNOR, CRNFA
• BSN preferred

Full-Time | 40 hrs/week | Days (4 days/10 hrs) with Call
