RN - Emergency Department (ED)
About the role
Join Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital, a Magnet Hospital awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and provide stellar care in the Emergency Department (ED), a Level II Trauma Center specializing in general emergency/trauma, cardiac services, sepsis care, and SANE (sexual assault nurse examiner) services. As an RN, you will deliver exceptional care throughout the patient journey, interact directly with patients and families, and contribute to healthcare education. This role is open to registered nurses with prior cardiac services experience or those seeking to develop expertise in this specialty.

Schedule
Evenings from 3:00 p.m. - 3:30 a.m., with every other weekend and holiday rotation.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care
- Implement and monitor patient care plans
- Monitor, record, and communicate patients' conditions
- Evaluate, update, and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders
- Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs
- Educate patients and family with educational materials considering cultural issues and other special concerns
- Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with approved nursing protocol
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or within one year of beginning work in the Emergency Department
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC - adult) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC - pediatric) upon hire or within 24 months of beginning work in the Emergency Department
- One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Critical Care Background
Physical Requirements
- Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time
- Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
- Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay
Minimum hourly: $35.50
Maximum hourly: $55.60
The pay range reflects the anticipated range for new hires. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate's work history, experience, skill set, and education. The pay range does not include applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.) or the value of Cleveland Clinic's benefits package.
