As an RN in the Emergency Department (ED), you will help patients feel comfortable, at ease, and supported while delivering quality care and life-saving treatment. Responsibilities

  • Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
  • Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
  • Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference, and resource availability).
  • Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce, or prevent risk.
  • Seek supervision, consultation, and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
  • Document in patients’ medical records.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program).
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • New grad or less than one year of RN work experience, or if an experienced RN moving from non-inpatient to acute direct care clinical inpatient setting, less than one year of current acute direct patient care RN experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC - pediatric) upon hire or within 24 months of beginning work in the Emergency Department.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within one year of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements

  • Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Schedule

Rotating day/evening shifts from 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m., with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

Pay

Pay range for new hires: $35.50 – $55.60 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on work history, experience, skill set, and education. The pay range does not include shift differentials, overtime, or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental, vision, retirement savings contributions).
