Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Fulfills patient safety measures like infection prevention and safe patient handling and movement.
- Maintains and cares for central lines and prevents surgical site infections according to hospital policy.
- Administers medications, performs nursing interventions, and educates patients and families.
- Documents all patient care activities and quality monitoring items to ensure compliance with established measures.
- Communicates patient information to healthcare team members and delegates tasks appropriately.
- Communicates with patients and families to enhance their experience and support health outcomes.
- Demonstrates critical thinking and engages in continuing education to develop skills and abilities.
Education
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. One year experience preferred.
Certification/License
- Current RN license in the State of Missouri or Compact Licensure.
- Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC).
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC).
- Mandt training course.
Mental/Physical Requirements
Considerable mental concentration required. Frequent lifting up to 35 lbs., turning activities, standing, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, reaching, and nearly constant walking are required. Exposure to infectious and communicable diseases via blood and other bodily fluids, as well as potential encounters with hostile individuals, may occur.
