RN Emergency Center PRN
We are an 11-bed Emergency Center located in Livonia, MI, offering full-service emergency care staffed by board-certified Emergency Medicine Physicians and licensed nursing staff. The center provides high-quality, comprehensive emergency care with close integration and collaboration with Beaumont’s hospitals for efficient transitions to inpatient settings if needed.
About the Role
The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the framework of the nursing process within the ANA scope of practice to provide professional nursing care, incorporating patient-family centered care principles. The RN assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and manages discharge while recognizing the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on outcomes. The role involves partnering with patients and families to develop care plans, teaching strategies, and documenting education in the health record.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures.
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and manage patient care and discharge processes.
- Incorporate patient-family centered care principles and recognize their impact on patient outcomes.
- Partner with patients and families to develop care plans and teaching strategies.
- Document education and learning appropriately in the health record.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Diploma in Nursing Required.
- Bachelor’s in Nursing Required within 5 years for GNs or RNs with less than one year of experience.
- Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or two years of experience in a licensed healthcare role and must have passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
- Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license Required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire/transfer from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke.
- ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
- TNCC certification required within 1 year of hire/transfer.
- ENPC certification required within 15 months of hire/transfer.
- Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years.
- External candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of related acute care experience and successfully complete a competency assessment provided by nursing education.
- Internal candidates with less than 2 years of clinical experience must be approved by their current Nurse Manager and the site CNO and remain a unit-based PRN (casual) employee until reaching 2 years of nursing experience.
