RN Emergency Center PRN

We are an 11-bed Emergency Center located in Livonia, MI, offering full-service emergency care staffed by board-certified Emergency Medicine Physicians and licensed nursing staff. The center is integrated with Beaumont’s hospitals for efficient transitions to inpatient care when needed.

About the Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) operates under the ANA scope of practice, utilizing the nursing process to deliver professional, patient-family centered care. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and discharging patients while partnering with patients and families to develop care plans and teaching strategies. The RN documents care and education in the health record and collaborates with the Nurse Leader to ensure quality patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care using the framework of the nursing process.
• Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge patients with a focus on patient-family centered care.
• Develop and document teaching strategies for patients and families.
• Partner with patients and families to incorporate their input and goals into care plans.
• Deliver quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader, following Corewell Health policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Associate’s or Diploma in Nursing (required).
• Bachelor’s in Nursing (required within 5 years for GNs or RNs with less than one year of experience).
• Graduates from a non-accredited nursing school must have at least one year of acute care experience or two years of experience in a licensed healthcare role and must have passed the NCLEX.
• Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license (required).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required upon hire/transfer from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke).
• ACLS certification (required within 6 months of hire/transfer).
• TNCC certification (required within 1 year of hire/transfer).
• ENPC certification (required within 15 months of hire/transfer).
• Specialty certification highly recommended within 2 years.
• External candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of related acute care experience and complete a competency assessment.
• Internal candidates with less than 2 years of experience must be approved by their Nurse Manager and site CNO and remain unit-based PRN until reaching 2 years of experience.
