About the Unit
This Emergency Center spans 125,000 square feet with 135 mostly private rooms, completed in February 2019. The state-of-the-art facility includes radiology suites, a pharmacy, and respiratory support within the department. As one of the busiest Emergency Centers in the nation and a Level I Trauma Center/Level II Pediatric EC, it offers exceptional learning opportunities. The unit operates under a shared-governance model, encouraging front-line staff to participate in day-to-day decisions and changes.

Scope of Work
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care under the ANA scope of practice, utilizing the nursing process framework to deliver patient-family centered care. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and discharging patients while recognizing the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on outcomes. The RN works under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures, partners with patients and families to develop care plans, and documents education and learning in the health record.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge patients using the nursing process.
- Provide quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader.
- Partner with patients and families to incorporate their input and goals into care plans.
- Develop teaching strategies for patients and families and document education in the health record.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Diploma in Nursing required.
- Bachelor’s in Nursing required within 5 years for new graduates or nurses with less than one year of experience.
- Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
- Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire/transfer (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke).
- ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
- TNCC certification required within 1 year of hire/transfer.
- ENPC certification required within 15 months of hire/transfer.
- Specialty certification highly recommended within 2 years.
- Preferred: RN experience.
