About the role
The professional nurse at Jefferson Health uses the nursing process to address the physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs of diverse patients. They collaborate with patients, their family/designated care partners, and other staff to deliver patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Interacts with co-workers, patients, and their designated care partners to ensure respectful and effective care.
- Partners with patients and their care partners to identify learning needs and priorities, and educates them about their health and care.
- Administers medications and prescribes treatments based on evidence-based practice and patient preferences.
- Develops and implements nursing plans of care that are culturally sensitive and tailored to individual patient needs.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare providers to ensure clear understanding and adherence to care plans.
- Participates in discharge planning to ensure patients and their care partners are prepared for post-hospital care.
- Monitors patient outcomes and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and quality.
- Engages in ongoing learning and professional development to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
Requirements
A graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required. Two years of med/surg/tele nursing experience or float/resource nursing experience is preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or completion of a BSN program within three years of hire is preferred.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
