About the role
The Clinical Unit Leader (CUL) functions as a shift supervisor and clinical liaison, providing leadership and maintaining a team-oriented work environment. Responsibilities include supervising staff, managing clinical areas, and fostering a positive customer service environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with hiring, orientation, monitoring, and evaluating performance of staff
- Problem solve, conduct employee counseling, and implement corrective actions
- Staffing and assignment of tasks to staff members
- Facilitating communication between unit personnel and internal/external customers
- Creating and implementing unit or area goals and objectives
- Participating in planning and problem-solving of daily unit/area operations
- Coordinating and evaluating unit quality metrics and quality improvement activities
- Promoting evidence-based practice and clinical research among staff
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with plans to obtain BSN within 5 years
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an acute care environment
- Current Michigan Nursing License
- Valid BLS certification (ACLS within 1 year of hire)
Qualifications
- Ability to problem solve and communicate effectively
- Strong nursing processes, critical thinking, and advanced assessment skills
- Previous experience in a leadership role preferred
