About the role
The Registered Nurse (RN) serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team, providing therapeutic care to patients in the Center for Advanced Lung Diseases. The role involves coordinating patient care and educating patients and families on medication compliance, routine lab work, and preventive measures.
Responsibilities
- Manages the physiological and behavioral functioning of patients, assessing and planning care based on the nursing process.
- Collaborates with Pulmonary and Interventional Pulmonary Physicians and Nurse Practitioners to educate patients on diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- Triage patient calls and reports signs and symptoms of complications.
- Supports continuous process improvement projects.
- Ensures patient satisfaction through adherence to hospital-wide service excellence standards.
- Completes initial and annual skills validations.
- Functions as a patient advocate.
- Assesses patients’ knowledge of their diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- Plans and coordinates patient testing and treatment with physicians.
- Performs cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures in the Special Procedures Lab.
- Evaluates patient care through the nursing process and patient satisfaction forms.
- Trains and educates other unit personnel.
- Demonstrates positive influence on others through role modeling.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) *Grandfathered from BSN if hired prior to 12/2019
- One year Nursing experience prior to application
- Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English.
- Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions, and ability to follow and perform duties, including whole blood collection and apheresis procedures.
- Committed to excellence in patient care and customer service.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision.
- Experience in data management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ambulatory care of a chronic disease.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license from the California Board of Registered Nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association.
- Fire Life Safety Training certification from the Los Angeles City.
