We're seeking a dedicated Charge Registered Nurse (RN) to help shape the future of rehabilitative care in our region. This exciting expansion positions PeaceHealth Springfield Rehabilitation Hospital as a regional center of excellence, delivering specialized, life-changing care to patients recovering from traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, strokes, and a broad range of orthopedic and cardiac conditions.

About the role

Join our team in a Part-Time (0.6 FTE) Charge RN role on the DAY shift. Enjoy a consistent schedule with 12-hour day shifts, allowing for greater flexibility and work-life balance.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement.

Pay

Competitive pay range of $50.78 - $79.78 per hour with an additional $6.00/hour for designated Charge RN duties.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient care by shift and department.
  • Supervision and assessment of clinical practice.
  • Direct and delegate to other team members.
  • Coach for performance to achieve individual and organizational goals, including orientation, competencies, and evaluations.
  • Develop the departmental team and collaborative relationships to achieve expected outcomes.
  • Serve as a clinical and resource expert for the department.
  • Articulate shift/team operational issues to management as appropriate.
  • Appropriate stewardship of resources.
  • Adapt decision-making style to the situation and level of authority for achieving an optimal outcome, including using collaborative decision making and effective communication skills.
  • Identify and apply opportunities for clinical practice improvement and support them with staff.
  • Ensure professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Degree from an Accredited School of Nursing (Required). BSN required within 36 months of hire.
  • Minimum of 2 years RN experience in acute care required (3 years preferred).
  • State of Oregon nursing license (Required).
  • Basic Life Support (Required upon hire).

Department / Location Specific Notes

  • Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend: BSN required within 36 months from the start date of the Charge Nurse role.
  • Nurses may float to another nursing unit if they have completed the necessary CareConnect training, unit-specific competencies, and have been deemed competent by a leader of the unit (including, but not limited to the unit manager, assistant nurse manager, or clinical nurse educator).
  • Emergency: ACLS upon hire and NIHSS within 6 months of hire or transfer.
  • Short Stay Unit: 3 years RN experience required in an acute care hospital setting.

Working Conditions

  • Lifting/Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
  • Fine motor skills to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (e.g., WOW, medical carts).
  • Perform hands-on CPR for at least 20 minutes using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA). Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
  • Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
  • Bending/stooping/squatting/reaching/kneeling frequently.
  • Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids, and airborne particles.
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.
  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
