RN Charge Nurse- Post Surgical Unit Nights
About the role
We are seeking a Registered Nurse Charge to join our Post Surgical Unit at Baylor Scott & White Orthopedic and Spine Hospital – Arlington, TX. The PSU Nurse has the responsibility to provide all nursing care services for the post-surgical patients in a manner suitable to accepted standards of care.
This position is assigned to respond to patients presenting to the facility with a healthcare need and providing the Medical Screening Exam as delegated by the Medical Executive Committee. The RN cares for all ages from 2 years to geriatric.
Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse Charge ensures the highest quality and safe delivery of patient care, maintains compliance with professional nursing, The Joint Commission, and all Federal and State standards of care.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited RN school of nursing
- Current Texas RN License
- Current BCLS, ACLS
- PALS recommended
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years clinical experience in an RN in hospital Medical/Surgery or ICU unit
- Strong ER experience preferred
- Previous experience as a Charge strongly preferred
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Good organization habits
- Able to make decisions based on nursing judgment
- Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet needs of patients and unit
Skills
Must have:
- 1-year Critical care, ED, or ICU nursing experience
- 2 years orthopedic nursing experience
- 1 year leadership experience (charge nurse, preceptor, committee chair)
