We’re looking for a Registered Nurse who will deliver nursing care using the nursing process, apply clinical knowledge, and exercise independent judgment to achieve quality patient outcomes. The role accepts accountability for care provided by self and delegates appropriately to other health care providers.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care within the ambulatory setting based on the nursing process and within role/scope of practice.
- Performs preliminary assessment of patients through observation and chart review to facilitate appropriate follow-up with the health care team.
- Evaluates unstable or complex patient care situations and facilitates appropriate intervention.
- Implements clinical decisions and demonstrates appropriate use of expert peers and/or management.
- Accepts accountability and uses independent nursing judgment for care provided by self and by health care providers to whom care is delegated.
- Demonstrates appropriate use of standards, effective use of resources, and evaluation of patient response in care delivery.
- Uses standards of care and practice to guide care delivery; bases decisions on relevant scientific principles, established standards, and research findings.
- Seeks assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
- Determines and revises priorities for direct/indirect patient care based on acuity and available resources; updates daily care plans.
- Uses established patient care support systems (documentation, communication, information).
- Provides educational instruction to patients and families regarding health care needs.
- Identifies teaching/learning needs, evaluates effectiveness of teaching, and documents in patient charts.
- Assists in orientation of new employees according to unit orientation plan.
- Applies information from educational experiences to patient care and instruction.
- Engages in mentoring, networking, and professional development activities.
- Fosters integration of staff and/or students into the health care team.
- Promotes the unit’s mission, values, and vision through open communication and conflict management.
- Interacts with health care team members to meet patient care needs.
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities as appropriate.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state where services will be provided or current multi-state RN license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- Temporary RN permits as required by state board (varies by state; must obtain permanent license within specified timeframe):
- Maryland: No temporary permit issued; must document recent graduation from nursing school and obtain permanent license within 90 days.
- Ohio: No temporary permit issued; must be currently licensed.
- Pennsylvania: Current PA Registered Nurse Temporary Permit; must obtain permanent license within one year.
- West Virginia: Current WV Registered Nurse Grad Permit; must obtain permanent license within 180 days.
- Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Diploma accepted if currently enrolled in a BSN program with completion within 5 years of hire.
Physical Requirements
- Heavy/hard work requiring strength and stamina: lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying materials/equipment weighing 40+ lbs.
- Safe patient handling limited to 35 pounds; all transfers, lifts, and repositioning must use lift equipment or patient handling aids as indicated.
Working Environment
- Works closely with others; may require protracted or irregular hours.
- Exposure to biohazards, infectious diseases, and electrical hazards associated with patient care equipment.
- Hands may be frequently in water.
- May cover multiple clinic locations; some travel may be required.
