About the Role
Provides professional nursing care to patients within the medical practice in support of, and as directed by, the physicians. Assists the physician in the treatment of patients and completes related clinical paperwork. Integrates Mercy's Philosophy of caring for the sick and suffering, respect for human life and dignity, and Christian values into all responsibilities. Maintains a caring, friendly, personal, and professional approach in all communications.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Assist physicians in patient treatment.
- Complete clinical paperwork.
- Provide professional nursing care to patients.
- React calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and policies.
- Communicate clearly and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff, and the public.
- Access information and enter clinical data using basic computer terminal and keyboard skills.
- Operate equipment related to the specialty of the clinic.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current valid state nursing license.
- CPR certification or obtain within 90 days of employment.
Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge of nursing principles and skills for care, examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
- Knowledge of medications and their effects, patient education, and principles to develop a self-care program.
- Skill in assisting and performing a variety of medical treatments and procedures.
- Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and policies.
- Basic computer terminal and keyboard skills.
